Sylvia Badon

“Maternal sedentary behavior during pre-pregnancy and early pregnancy and offspring birth size”

Sylvia Badon is a doctoral candidate in epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Her research focuses on maternal lifestyle before and during pregnancy, specifically physical activity and sedentary behavior, and its associations with various maternal and child health outcomes using several birth cohorts in the United States and abroad. She received an MS in epidemiology and biostatistics from Northwestern University and an AB in biology from the University of Chicago.

Danielle Sharpe

“Using a Bayesian Method to Assess Google, Twitter, and Wikipedia for Influenza Surveillance”
 
Danielle Sharpe is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University. She received her Master of Science in epidemiology from the University of Florida. Her research interests are in disease surveillance, infectious disease epidemiology, and using mobile technology and web-based data for surveillance. She is particularly interested in the development of mobile technology and web-based health interventions for marginalized, hard-to-reach populations.

Abram Wagner

“Risk factors for measles among adults in Tianjin, China: who should be controls in a case-control study?”

Abram Wagner graduated from the University of Michigan with a PhD in Epidemiology. His research interests are in the control of vaccine-preventable diseases in China, both in the epidemiological manifestation of infection and disease, and in the socioeconomic context of vaccination. Currently, he is developing a conjoint analysis questionnaire that will measure the stated preferences among parents in Shanghai for different attributes of new vaccines, which are non-mandatory and require out-of-pocket payment.
