Dr. Benkeser is an academic biostatistician leading an integral part of the statistical analysis efforts of the NIAID-sponsored COVID-19 Prevention Network, a collaboration designed to partner with vaccine developers towards the goal of contributing statistical design and analysis for each Phase III COVID-19 vaccine efficacy trial. Through his contributions, Benkeser has demonstrated an unrelenting commitment to reproducible research, ensuring the replicability of quantitative answers to questions of vaccine efficacy, in the context of the data analysis effort singularly most relevant to curbing the toll of COVID-19. Via Twitter (@biosbenk), he has engaged insightfully in public discourse on vaccine development efficacy trials and educational critical evaluations of popular media and scientific reports alike. His contributions have been critical to efforts to rigorously evaluate current COVID-19 vaccines with an aim towards their future improvement, immeasurably benefiting both the current and future public good.
