Jennifer Balkus

Jennifer Balkus, PhD, MPH is an infectious disease epidemiologist whose research focuses on questions that interface between vaginal health and prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). She is a faculty member in the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) and serves as the Associate Director of the Statistical and Data Management Center for the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN SDMC), and NIH support research network. In addition, Dr. Balkus is an Affiliate Instructor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health at the University of Washington (UW), where she conducts research on the effect of the vaginal microbiome on risk of STIs and other adverse health outcomes in women.
