Postdoctoral Research Fellow- urban health collaborative

Description

The Urban Health Collaborative at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University is seeking to fill a post-doc position beginning in Spring/Summer 2024. We are especially interested in individuals with an interest in the effects of immigration related policy on health and safety-net enrollment.

Reporting to Brent Langellier, Associate Professor and Alina Schnake-Mahl, Assistant Professor in both the Department of Health Management and Policy and the Urban Health Collaborative, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work on a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded project. The project examines how state preemption policies impact city-/county-level immigration enforcement, individual-level voting, and public program participation among eligible individuals in mixed status households.

Under the mentorship of Drs. Langellier and Schnake-Mahl, the scientist will focus on analyzing quantitative data from this project as well as related social policy exposures. This position will also focus heavily on manuscript writing and other dissemination activities. They will have the opportunity to lead publications and develop their own research ideas in the broad categories of immigrant health, immigrant policies, and/or preemption, as well as contribute as to co-author to publications led by other researchers.

This position will be housed in the Urban Health Collaborative, in the Dornsife School of Public Health, which offers unique mentoring and research opportunities. The Postdoctoral Fellow will meet weekly or biweekly with their mentors and members of their research teams and attend various UHC activities and school-wide research presentations. Financial support may be available for travel to present results at scientific meetings.
