Description
The Epidemiology Branch is an intramural research program within the Division of Population Health Research at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The Branch’s mission is to conduct original research focusing on human reproduction, pregnancy, and maternal and child health. Branch scientists are internationally recognized as leaders in these areas and are recruiting multiple post-doctoral fellows interested in fetal growth and development, pregnancy complications (e.g., gestational diabetes, preterm birth, preeclampsia), environmental factors, genetics, epigenetics, neurodevelopment, pediatrics, nutrition and lifestyle, obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardio-metabolic disorders, developmental origins of health & disease, and health disparities. Applicants with related experience are encouraged to apply even if they do not have prior experience in reproductive, perinatal, or pediatric epidemiology.
Our interdisciplinary program is designed to provide experiences that foster the development of skills necessary to conduct independent research and to cross-train fellows in related disciplines such as reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, endocrinology, pediatrics, genetics, nutrition, and statistics. Postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to develop their own research initiatives within the mission of the Branch using the wealth of data from available cohorts.
In the Epidemiology Branch we are seeking multiple applicants with a range of analytical, technical, and clinical skills who are ready to tackle great challenges and make an impact on the lives of women, men, and children. Candidates legally approved to work in the USA with an earned doctoral degree in epidemiology, genetics, or a closely related field or those with a medical degree with some experience or advanced graduate training in epidemiology, population health, or biostatistics within the past five years are invited to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research interests in areas currently under investigation in the Branch and to candidates with superior analytic and communication skills. Salary is commensurate with training and relevant research experience. The position also provides paid health insurance and transportation benefits. Multiple positions are available and will remain open until qualified applicants are found.
