Bonnie Swenor

Dr. Bonnielin Swenor is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a Core Faculty Member at the Dana Center for Preventive Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, as well as an Associate Faculty Member at the JHU Center on Aging and Health. Dr. Swenor’s research is at the intersection of ophthalmology and geriatrics and examines how functioning and quality of life are affected by eye disease and visual impairment among older adults. This work spans a range of physical functioning implications of visual impairment, including mobility difficulty and frailty, and examines the relationship between sensory impairment and cognitive outcomes in older adults. She has a Career Development Award from the NIA examining the cognitive consequences to visual impairment among older adults.
