Miguel Hernan, MD, ScM, DrPH conducts research on how to do research. His focus is on methods for causal inference, including comparative effectiveness of policy and clinical interventions. Together with collaborators in several countries, he investigates the optimal way to treat and prevent HIV infection, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. He teaches core courses at the Harvard School of Public Health, where he is a Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.
