Nominator Information:
Joanna Merckx, joanna-trees.merckx@mcgill.ca

Nomination Type: Individual

Nominee: Michael Mina

Reason for Nomination:

With great persistence and diligence, Dr Mina has since early in the pandemic combined his expertise in medicine, infectious diseases, public health and epidemiology. Very open minded and innovative, he keeps building on the evidence base of the use of diagnosis and diagnostic tools as powerful interventions in the public health response to COVID-19. He does not give up to explain both policy makers and the clinical field that in a public health pandemic our minds need to be set to find solutions and approaches that are above and beyond what we have had to possibly do in the past. And in the mean time he is already thinking how to prevent the next pandemic.
