Given the complexity of the social, environmental, and public health issues being addressed today, (e.g., health inequalities, emerging diseases, impact of climate change) greater efforts for collaboration are being encouraged and supported by the NIH, IOM, and National Sciences.  For new scientists, understanding and navigating collaborative and team science is essential for success. The following papers/guide were selected to provide an overview and guidance to negotiating collaborative work. The need for a transdisciplinary approach to health research and policy is clear because traditional unidisciplinary collaborations are not adequate to address the challenges we face.
