Susan Hankinson

Dr. Susan E. Hankinson is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Epidemiologist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.  Most of her research is in the area of women’s cancers. Dr. Hankinson has been a long-term investigator with both the Nurses’ Health Study (NHS) and NHSII cohorts.  Her primary scientific interest has been in determining the role of lifestyle factors (e.g., adiposity and dietary intake), and exogenous and endogenous hormones to risk of breast cancer and in the use of biomarkers (including blood, urine and tissue markers) in epidemiologic research.
