Emily Harville

eharvilleEmily Harville is associate professor of epidemiology at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans.  Her research interests focus on social and biological causes of adverse pregnancy outcomes, particularly effects of stress on pregnant and postpartum women and preconception health.  As she moved to New Orleans the week before Hurricane Katrina, she has also developed a subspecialty in the effects of disaster on pregnant and postpartum women.  Her teaching interests include epidemiologic methods and data analysis.  She is currently the principal investigator on NIH-funded studies of preconception cardiovascular health and birth outcomes, as well as lifetime adversity, the oil spill, and reproductive-aged women. She received her PhD in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2005.
