Every minute counts when patients arrive at the emergency department with acute chest pain. This PhD project focuses on improving clinical pathways and decision support to ensure that patients receive the right care—faster and more accurately.
You will work at the intersection of public health, data science, and clinical research, developing methods that help clinicians make informed, evidence-based decisions in real-world settings.
What You’ll Work On
Turn real-world healthcare data into actionable insights that improve triage and care pathways for chest-pain patients.
Build and evaluate diagnostic and prognostic models to support rapid, well-informed decisions in emergency care.
Collaborate closely with clinicians, data scientists, and international partners to translate methods into clinical practice.
Present your findings at international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
What You’ll Learn (and Get Really Good At)
Working with routine healthcare and international observational datasets – including data curation, linkage, quality control, and documentation.
Depending on your interests and background, you can specialize in:
Federated data analysis and privacy-preserving modeling, or
Methodological advances in diagnostic and prognostic research (model design, validation, calibration, and transportability).
Developing reproducible research workflows using coding best practices, version control, and transparent reporting.
