Epidemiology Contractor
Description
The Epidemiology Contractor will join Medical Evidence Generation Real World Evidence/Epidemiology (RWE/EPI) Inflammation & Immunology/Internal Medicine team at Pfizer. The contractor will primarily conduct epidemiologic literature reviews and other background research for various stakeholders. This role will also support RWE/EPI research initiatives, as needed. The specific tasks include:
Literature Reviews:
• Critically assess, synthesize and summarize bodies of scientific literature across multiple disease areas, study designs, and populations
• Maintain version control of documents and facilitate multiple rounds of review and revision
• Ensure completion of quality control (QC) requirements for literature reviews and other background research deliverables
• As needed, conduct quantitative analyses of public use and private data sources (e.g., SEER; CDC data)
• Develop presentation materials that effectively communicate literature review findings to internal audiences
• As needed, present literature review findings to internal audiences
• Develop processes for automation of literature searches, archival of written summaries, and tracking of work volume
• As needed, manage submission of literature review requests to external vendors, and direct their completion
• Participate in enterprise-level initiatives related to literature reviews (i.e., clinical trial diversity, risk contextualization, the Epi Library)
Research Support
• Provide research support to RWE/EPI Strategy Lead and Epidemiology Scientists for the design, conduct, and analysis of
• RWE/EPI studies and projects, such as: natural history of disease studies, comparative cohort studies, post-approval safety studies and their feasibility assessments, descriptive epidemiology studies for Pfizer’s Clinical Trials Diversity initiative
• Support research to identify diagnosis and procedure codes used for studies using real-world data
• Assist with preparation of regulatory documents, manuscripts, and other written reports
• Works under supervision of RWE/EPI Strategic Lead and Epidemiology Scientists
• Works collaboratively with RWE/EPI colleagues and as needed, key stakeholders internally and externally
• Develop and refine processes to perform research support and literature reviews more efficiently
• Support abstract, poster, and manuscript development
Position Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics) and a minimum of 4 years in a position within the life sciences, public health, academic, or pharmaceutical industry
• Experience conducting literature reviews of epidemiologic and/or scientific literature
• Strong critical skills, particularly in critically analyzing study results
• Demonstrated knowledge of the life sciences industry and epidemiologic methods
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to manage several tasks at one time
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, biostatistics, or another relevant field
• Experience working with EndNote or another citation manager
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes
Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
Rate: $30-$40/hour
