Cancer Epidemiology Research Scientist
Description
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), part of the California EPA, is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Cancer Epidemiology Research Scientist to join our Cancer Toxicology and Epidemiology Section (CTES). CTES provides technical support for listing chemicals as causing cancer under Proposition 65, analyzes dose-response data, and develops guidance for assessing risks of exposure to chemical carcinogens.
Primary responsibilities of the job include:
• Cancer hazard identification
• Dose response analysis
• Exposure assessment activities.
ELIGIBILITY

Minimum qualifications include a related doctoral degree and one year of additional qualifying experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficiency in principles of epidemiology, public health, and chemical and physical agents in the environment, with specific expertise in the area of human cancer epidemiology.
• Proficiency in conducting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from scientific research, disease surveillance, epidemiologic-based investigations, and exposure science for application to issues of public health, with expertise in research investigating incidence of human cancer.
• Knowledge of distribution and determinants of disease, health, and genetic conditions in the population.
• Knowledge of statistical software for analyzing epidemiological data.
• Knowledge of human toxicology and risk assessment.
• Ability and willingness to handle complex technical issues, multiple activities/projects, and urgent deadlines.
• Ability to function effectively and work cooperatively in a team.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
SALARY RANGE
$96,540 – $124,368 annually.
