Research Scientist

Advocate Aurora Research Institute (AARI) is invested in building its research portfolio by recruiting a mid-career Research Scientist (equivalent to associate professor) with a high-quality research program preferably within AARI priority areas of aging, cardiovascular disease, cancer, health services research, or neuroscience. Candidates whose research addresses health equity are preferred. The applicant should have a record of leading or co-leading projects as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-investigator or Co-PI with other scientists, health system stakeholders and external collaborators to further develop and sustain their program of research with successful external funding. In addition, a successful applicant will have a strong record of publications in high-quality journals as well as an emerging national reputation in their field. Candidates are expected to have strong quantitative skills and/or qualitative skills and an established background conducting research in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, biostatistics, health economics, health services research, implementation science, or equivalent. As a mid-career scientist, applicants should have an emerging record of mentoring and will be expected to provide guidance to junior scientist, and research staff.
Advocate Aurora Research Institute (AARI) is part of Advocate Health, including Wake Forest University School of Medicine (WFUSM) which serves as the academic core of Advocate Health and is among the top 50 research institutions in the United States. Advocate Health (AH) is a large, integrated healthcare delivery system that serves nearly 6 million patients annually and is the fifth largest nonprofit health system in the nation. The health organization is comprised of more than 1,000 care sites and 67 hospitals across 6 states spanning the Southeastern and Midwestern portions of the United States. The expertise, size, and scope of our highly integrated enterprise positions us to be uniquely poised to address barriers and challenges associated with the translation of research into effective strategies for the prevention and treatment of disease. This growing research institute nested within a health system currently supports seven independent research scientists with a commitment to health equity through research programs spanning several areas including maternal and child health, aging, implementation science, community health, health systems research, and cardiovascular disease.
Experience Required:
A doctoral degree with 5+ years of experience conducting research in public health, epidemiology, health sciences, biostatistics, health economics, health services research, implementation science, or equivalent. Applicants are expected to have a history of research accomplishment with sustained and high-impact peer-reviewed publications. Current extramural funding as PI, Co-I or Co-PI is expected.
