Assistant/Associate Professor in Epidemiology

The College of Health Sciences – Department of Public Health at the University of Missouri (MU) – Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track (TT) faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with advanced training in epidemiology.

The Department is interested in applicants with research and teaching interests in any focus area of epidemiology, including but not limited to health promotion, veterinary/infectious disease epidemiology, cancer epidemiology, epidemiology incorporating informatics or geospatial components, zoonoses, rural health, health equity, One Health, or community-engagement. Candidates should demonstrate publication and funding records, teaching, and leadership within the fields of epidemiology commensurate with stage of career.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must possess a Ph.D. in epidemiology, public health, biomedical informatics, or a related field by the time of appointment.

Successful candidates are expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program to sustain independent and collaborative research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in epidemiology, mentor and support undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in university and disciplinary service.

The Department of Public Health in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri is the only program housed in a land grant university with strong ties to every county through MU Extension and partners around the state. The department offers a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) with emphases in Health Promotion and Policy, and Veterinary Public Health. The MPH is jointly administered with the MU College of Veterinary Medicine. The MPH is offered in-person and online. PhD students currently acquire training through the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences program in the College of Health Sciences; our expectation is to develop our own PhD program in the coming years. Faculty conduct research in a variety of areas including health equity, zoonoses, global public health, wildlife disease epizootiology, community engagement, One Health, and more.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant.
