Poster Session 1
7:30-8:30pm

Join your fellow SPC members in the first poster session of the conference. The session also serves as a reception that includes a cash bar and refreshments. A great opportunity to begin the conference. Meet at the SPC table if you’re interested in walking through the poster session with other SPC members.

SER/SPER Fun Run
6:30am

This early morning activity is a fun way to start the first day of the 2022 SER conference. Registration is required. Click here for more details.

 

Breakfast with the Experts
7:00 – 7:45am

This early morning event is an informal opportunity for students and post-docs to have a conversation with scientific experts in our field. You and several of your peers will be teamed up with two experts to discuss anything that interests you from the current topics of the field or research area to advice on career development and advancement. It’s a great opportunity to meet peers and epidemiology experts in a fun and casual setting. No breakfast will be provided so grab some food on your way. We hope to see you there.

Recruitment Fair
12:00 – 1:00pm

President’s Reception
7:30 – 9:30pm

Whether this is your first SER conference or not, you don’t want to miss the President’s Reception. It’s a great opportunity to meet the SER leadership and mingle with peers. Oh, and did we mention there is free food?!

Speed Mentor Networking
7:00 – 7:45am

Students and post-docs have the opportunity to meet and network with epidemiologists (mentors) in small groups, following a “speed dating” format. Each mentor will be paired with 2-3 student/post-doc attendees at a time, and students will rotate around the room during the session. This fast and fun event is a great way to practice introductions and have brief discussions around career and professional development. We hope to see you there.

SPC Career Panel
12:15 – 1:15pm

The field of epidemiology is broad and full of various career paths that have led professionals to their current positions. This session provides students and post-docs an opportunity to hear about the careers of a few epidemiologists working in a variety of sectors/settings and to ask questions. Panelists will briefly introduce themselves and then we will take questions from the audience. Please join our lunchtime session and the conversation with this excellent panel.

Panelists: Quaker Harmon (Staff Scientist at NIEHS), Katelyn Jetelina (Assistant Professor at UTHealth and Founder of Your Local Epidemiologist), Sungwoo Lim (Director at NYC Department of Health), Ruth Link-Gelles (Epidemiologist and former EIS officer at CDC), Sunni Mumford (Professor at UPenn and formerly Investigator at NICHD)

SER Business Meeting
5:30 – 6:00pm

The SER business meeting is open to all members of SER and a great way to meet new leadership and other important work being accomplished.

SPC Business Meeting
6:00 – 6:30pm

Come meet your current and newly elected SPC members to hear about SPC activities over the past year and learn about opportunities to get involved. The business meeting is open to all students and post-docs. Stay for the annual SPC raffle for a chance to win books and other epidemiology-themed items!

SPC Social Event
7:30pm

One of the best, and possibly most important, aspects of attending a conference is to meet and have fun with your peers. Please join your fellow SPC members for a fun and relaxed evening. This event is not associated with the conference and will be held at the conference hotel’s CHI Bar in the main lobby. Food and beverages will be available for purchase but not required. We hope to see you there.

Professional Development Session
