Steve Marshall

Steve Marshall, PhD, is an injury epidemiologist and the Director of the University of North Carolina Injury Prevention Research Center. He is an Professor of Epidemiology in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He has worked in diverse areas of injury control and prevention, including: opioid overdose, sport-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions, traumatic brain injury, transportation injury, homicide and violence prevention, surveillance methods, occupational injury, and injuries in the military. As an epidemiologic methodologist, Dr. Marshall’s interests include designs for the evaluation of interventions, systems thinking, and assessment of modification. He is committed to research-practice integration and the ongoing translation of research findings into policy, programs, and practice, and using systems perspectives to advance to research-practice integration goals.
