Dr. Caroline A. Thompson is Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at San Diego State University (SDSU), specializing in cancer epidemiology, healthcare delivery, quantitative methodology, and “big data” science. She holds MPH and PhD degrees in Epidemiology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a BA in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.Read more
Dr. Thompson’s substantive research focuses on uncovering and explaining disparities in cancer healthcare and outcomes. Her methodological research is concerned with informing the appropriate use of electronic health records (EHRs) and other sources of routine medical data for observational research. In addition to her role at SDSU, she is also an Adjunct Faculty at the University of California San Diego Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science, and a Consulting Investigator at Sutter Health Center for Health Systems Research. Prior to receiving her training as an Epidemiologist, she enjoyed a 10-year career as a Data Manager for cancer clinical trials in the biopharma industry.
