Veronica Iglesias

Verónica Iglesias, PhD in Public Health. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health at University of Chile. Her research interests lie in the area of metals exposure and health effects in children’s northern Chile. She has also measured the impact of involuntary exposure to secondhand smoke on respiratory health of bar and restaurants workers.  She has collaborated actively with researchers in studies of exposure to pesticides and health effects. Given the high prevalence of nationwide tobacco consumption, currently she is assessing exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke in children and the mechanisms to prevent children smoking initiation.
