Dr. Werler is Professor and Chair of Epidemiology and a perinatal epidemiologist. Her research includes projects on risk factors for congenital anomalies and other pregnancy outcomes. Examples of her recent research include maternal serum markers of infection and abdominal wall defects; medications, folic acid intake, and inheritance in relation to spina bifida; psycho-social and cognitive outcomes in children born with craniofacial birth defects; and reproductive factors among women with disabilities. She is currently the President-Elect for SER. Dr. Werler received her doctorate from Boston University School of Public Health.
