Vaping

Overview: E-cigarette use (i.e., nicotine vaping) poses public health and regulatory dilemmas—e-cigarettes occupy the space of potential harm reduction and smoking cessation for individuals who smoke combustible cigarettes (the leading preventable cause of death and disease globally), while also increasing the risk of nicotine use and associated harms among youth. Vaping also poses unknown health risks to individuals of all ages. When considering the overall public health impact of vaping, it’s important to balance their risks for youth, with their potential as a smoking cessation aid for adults, while also considering potential physical health effects. This playlist provides select papers that address each of these factors to guide readers in an exploration of the public health and population-level impact of e-cigarettes.
