2019 SER Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Issues related to diversity and inclusion function at multiple levels within the discipline of epidemiology. This SER playlist aims to make a first pass at broadly addressing the multiple levels at which lack of diversity and inclusion can impact the quality of our science and perpetuate inequalities in our profession. The papers below address a number of challenges: which research questions are addressed and funded, who is included in research samples, how research results are framed, and how to quantify the diversity of the academic and epidemiologic workforce. This playlist was curated as part of the work of SER’s new Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is meant to be a starting point from which we can address these and other issues in further depth with future playlists.
