Maria Argos is an assistant professor of epidemiology at the UIC School of Public Health. She holds an MPH in Environmental Health Sciences and PhD in Epidemiology from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Her research has a strong emphasis on identifying molecular mechanisms that underlie associations between toxic metals and disease outcomes, by leveraging high-dimensional molecular and biomarker data obtained from biological specimens collected in population-based epidemiologic studies. Her recent work is examining methods for evaluating gene-arsenic interactions, informed by functional data including gene expression and DNA methylation, in relation to chronic disease endpoints.
