Jennifer Salerno, PhD is a health research methodologist in the Program in Evidence-Based Care, which is situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Oncology at McMaster University (Canada) and linked at a provincial level to Cancer Care Ontario. Currently, her work involves developing clinical practice guidelines around imaging technologies in prostate cancer and other guidance on the appropriate use of imaging in the care of lymphoma patients. She spent the last five years as a clinical epidemiologist at Canadian government agencies, including the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Health Quality Ontario. Her work in government involved evidence-based assessments in all areas of disease. Her interest in ethics, big data, and computing are rooted in the awareness of the many complexities involved in medical and health policy decision-making and the need to manage multiple stakeholder and ethical perspectives in a data-driven and evidence-based environment.
