Provide a brief statement (no more than 500 words) describing the candidate’s outstanding contributions to social epidemiology. The statement should explain how the nominee’s work has advanced the concepts, methods, or interventions used to understand and improve the social determinants of health, describe the impact of those contributions on research and/or public health practice, and illustrate how the work reflects Dr. S. Leonard Syme’s legacy of questioning convention and pursuing innovative ideas that move the field forward. The nominator’s professional relationship with the nominee should also be described. Finalists will be selected from the initial nomination materials, and additional letters of support (maximum two pages per letter) may be requested as part of the final review process.
