SER is committed to fostering epidemiologic research and connecting researchers at all career stages. Our advocacy policy ensures that all external opportunities and endorsements are evaluated transparently, ethically, and in alignment with our mission.
Process
- Prepare Your Request
Clearly describe the opportunity and its relevance to SER’s mission. Include any supporting details or documents. - Submit Your RequestSend your request to the Executive Director of SER via email.
- Committee ReviewThe Executive Director and Executive Committee will review your submission for alignment, completeness, and impact.
- Receive a ResponseYou’ll be notified of the Committee’s decision and any next steps or requests for additional information.
Committee Evaluation
The Executive Committee evaluates requests based on:
- Mission advancement
- Potential competition/conflict of interest
- Member data privacy (no external release)
- Policy recommendations (SER usually does not make public health/policy statements except for universal research ethics)
- Costs/benefits and resource allocation
- Precedent and timeliness
- Duration of commitment
- Goodwill and reputation
