Ways to Get Involved
SER members play a vital role in shaping the Society’s initiatives by serving on one of nine standing committees.
Committee terms are typically three years, providing continuity and depth of engagement. Beginning in 2026, SER will also offer a new one-year term option to increase flexibility and broaden participation.
Each year, SER issues a Call for Involvement, inviting members to express interest in committee service. During this process, committee leadership reviews current needs and selects members who represent a diverse range of institutions, disciplines, career stages, and perspectives.
Every committee is co-led by a member of the Executive Committee and a designated Committee Chair, ensuring strong leadership and alignment with SER’s mission. Whether you’re mentoring early-career researchers, guiding awards and programming, or amplifying SER’s communications, committee service is a meaningful way to make an impact.
