Develop and Revise Your Course Connect. Create. Collaborate
What is the Course Development and Revision Workshop?
The SER Education Committee will sponsor a half day workshop at the 2026 Annual Meeting focused on course development and revision.
Workshop participants will have a chance to work with senior faculty members and with each other on specific topics that they propose during the application to the workshop.
A limited number of applicants will be accepted. Selected individuals will be required to pay a $25 participation fee. No funding/travel support is available for this workshop.
What topics will be addressed?
Topics include (but are not limited to):
- Syllabus development or restructuring (e.g., what topics should be covered at a particular level/as part of a broader course sequence? or are there topics that should be deleted from or added to this course?);
- Course content for a particular subject (e.g., what is the best way to teach confounding to undergraduates? How should I introduce selection bias to masters students?);
- Textbook selection and use (e.g., should I assign one book or selected readings from many books, or eschew textbooks altogether in favor of journal articles?); and
- Student assessments (what assignments are scalable, but authentic assessments?).
