An Introduction to Methodology and Applications for Spatial Epidemiology

Join us for an engaging and practical introduction to spatial epidemiology in this upcoming Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER) Digits webinar, “An Introduction to Methodology and Applications for Spatial Epidemiology.” This virtual session will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 12:00–1:00 PM EST.

Spatial epidemiology plays a critical role in understanding how place and context shape health outcomes, access to care, and disease burden. In this one-hour webinar, attendees will gain both foundational knowledge and applied insights from two leading experts in the field. Drs. Arrianna Planey and William Goedel will introduce core concepts in spatial epidemiology and highlight practical tools for spatial methods (geographic information systems [GIS]), drawing on their work examining healthcare access, policy, and structural inequities.
