Gestational Diabetes Screening and Management: Leveraging evidence from birth cohorts and clinical trials in India and South Africa

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a major public health concern, affecting about one out of every six pregnancies. The condition is not only associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes for both the mother and the offspring, but is associated with short-term and long-term cardiometabolic health of both. Although screening and treatment protocols are well established in high-income countries, there are considerable gaps in their global implementation.
