Nedra Whitehead

Nedra Whitehead is the director of RTI International’s Center for Genomics in Public Health and Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in epidemiology from Emory University and her MS in medical genetics from Indiana University and is ABGC-certified in genetic counseling. Before joining RTI in 2005, she was with the Division of Reproductive Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her research interests include gene-disease associations, gene-gene and gene-environment interactions, the evaluation of genomic and biomarker tests, and surveillance of genetic conditions. Her current projects include studies of muscular dystrophy, birth defects, and laboratory testing.
