Lisa Manhart

Dr. Manhart is a Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health at the University of Washington with research interests in sexually transmitted infections (STI) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Her primary research centers on the clinical epidemiology of emerging STI pathogens, with a focus on Mycoplasma genitalium. In addition, she is currently conducting two NIH-funded studies exploring the role of the male urethral microbiome on genital tract disease. In collaborations with social scientists, she engages in studies of the psychosocial implications of STI and HIV-infection, including HIV-related stigma and mental health, and studies to define the social context of STI risk.
