Noel Weiss, MD, DrPH, has been an epidemiologist at the University of Washington for more than forty years. While much of his work has been directed towards cancer epidemiology and epidemiologic methods, he has had a consistent interest in clinical epidemiology, ie the study of the outcome of illness. In 1986, he published a book on this subject, which is now in its third edition. In recent years, Dr. Weiss has devoted considerable attention to the development of strategies to gauge the impact of diagnostic and screening tests.
