Pia Mauro

Pia M. Mauro, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Mauro focuses on substance use epidemiology, particularly individual and structural influences on substance use disorder (SUD) treatment access and utilization. In 2018, she received a Career Development Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse entitled, “Multi-level associations between medical marijuana laws and substance use disorder treatment.” She is also interested in health equity, policy, and psychiatric comorbidities. Dr. Mauro completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Substance Abuse Epidemiology Training Program at Columbia University and obtained a PhD from the Department of Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
