Jennifer Loukissas

Jennifer Loukissas serves as the Communications Chief for the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG). She provides strategic communications counsel to the DCEG Director and manages all aspects of public affairs, congressional inquiries, and science communications for this intramural research program of the National Cancer Institute.

Together with her team, Ms. Loukissas produces science and health communications materials across platforms and for a variety of audiences and helps DCEG investigators and trainees communicate their research findings effectively to a diverse set of stakeholders, including reporters, research advocates, and other governmental agencies. In addition to training DCEG staff, she delivers workshops on communicating science at professional society meetings.

Ms. Loukissas is an award-winning science writer with over 20 years of experience in public affairs. She came to the NIH in 2002 as Presidential Management Fellow following receipt of a Master of Public Policy from Duke University; she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Haverford College. She and her husband, who also started in government as a PMF, have two children and live in suburban Maryland.
