Maria Angelica Milla

 Dr.  Maria Angelica Milla is a professor at the Catholic University of Honduras in the Psychology Master program for 15 years. She is has been a clinician in the Nutrition field for  25 years, managing food and nutrition  services for the two main hospitals in her home city ( 800 beds capacity together)  and transitioning to the public health area in the  last  7 seven years focusing on social determinants of health in chronic no transmissible diseases and obesity. She got her medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Honduras and her Masters from Universidad de San Carlos and Universidad Catolica de Honduras with summa cum laude recognition in the last one.

She has been involved at a national level in work groups as a technical advisor such the National committee for dietary guidelines; she is part of a regional committee for Diabetes Education Program. She also, has contributed to design the curricula of the School of Nutrition in the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras, with a public health approach, which got a Latin-American recognition as one of the most complete study plans for nutritionist in the area.

Dr. Milla has worked also con others institutions like PAHO, GTZ and other private institution as designer, advisor and coordinator of national and local programs focus on the prevention of NTCD and nutrition. She is actually the president of the Sociedad hondureña de Nutricion y Obesidad and active member of ALAD and IEA.

Her main work interest at this moment is capacity building in Central America focusing in Social Epidemiology, been her last accomplishment the first work shop in Social Epidemiology held last November in Antigua Guatemala with great success and the participation of people  from  14 latin American countries .
