I am a Professor of Epidemiologic Methods in the Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Nutrition, and Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and an expert in statistical methods in epidemiology. I work on the development of new statistical methods to correct point and interval estimates of the effect of exposures on the occurrence of different types of disease for bias due to exposure measurement error, and other epidemiologic methods, which include power and sample size calculations for gene/environment interactions, point and interval estimation of the population attributable risk, tests for heterogeneity in meta-analysis, etc. For nearly 20 years, I have served as the senior statistician in the Nurses’ Health Study II, the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, and the Pooling Project of Prospective Studies of Diet and Cancer in Men and Women. In 2014, I received the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award, which aims to advance the emerging field of translational/implementation science to promote today’s global and domestic health agenda, through the development of new statistical methods to advance these goals.
